Method synthesis of radar and reference sensor technology for damage detection
The expansion of wind energy and the reliable feed-in of renewable energies into the power grid is crucial for the energy transition. In the InsituWIND research project, combined methods for structural monitoring of the grout connection on offshore wind turbines (WTGs) are being researched and developed in order to increase the safety and longevity of the WTGs. To this end, the project is the first to use a method synthesis of radar and reference sensor technology so that previously undetectable damage to the grout joint can be identified using automated detection. The methods will be applied to a 3.6 MW WTG at the Meerwind Süd/Ost wind farm and to a demonstrator in the Fraunhofer LBF laboratories.
